Hand-painted horizontal works for sofas, sideboards and wide architectural spaces
A long wall rarely needs a larger painting. It needs a wider one.
Ansehen: Tree of DreamsNINETEEN PANORAMIC WORKS
The panoramic edit
Ordered by proportion. The edit opens at 2.5 to 1 and holds a panoramic shape all the way through, with every work offered in five sizes from 22 inches across to 106. Landscape appears here as a subject only where the work itself is genuinely wide.

THE HORIZONTAL ROOM
Width is the decision.
Size follows.
Most rooms are built along horizontal lines. A sofa, a sideboard, a run of cabinetry, a beam, a band of windows. When a painting repeats that line instead of interrupting it, the wall reads as one composition rather than two.
A wide work carries the eye sideways. It settles the space above a low piece of furniture, closes the gap a vertical work leaves open, and gives an open plan a horizon to rest on. Every work in this edit is wider than it is tall at every size we make, from 22 inches across to 106.

TWO THIRDS OF THE SOFA
For Long Walls
Measure the sofa, then look for a work that spans roughly two thirds of its width. On a long sofa that arithmetic almost always lands on a panoramic format, which is why a wide work usually sits better above it than a larger square one. Every work in this edit is at least 1.8 times wider than it is tall at its entry size.
Shown at 2.5 to 1, the widest proportion in the edit. Hang the centre near eye level and leave roughly a hand's width of wall between the frame and the top of the cushions.

THE SHALLOW BAND
Above the Sideboard
A sideboard, a credenza or a run of dining storage leaves a wide, shallow band of wall. It is the hardest shape in a room to fill, and the one place a long horizontal work is unambiguously right. Ten works in this edit carry a dining room placement in the ARTMERE catalogue.
Shown above a walnut sideboard in a dining room. Match the width of the work to the furniture below it rather than to the whole wall, and the two lines read as one.

SURFACE, ACROSS A LONG SPAN
Paint that holds
a shadow.
Width is only half of the argument. Up close, the ridge of a knife stroke catches side light and throws a small shadow, and across a long canvas that surface keeps changing as you walk past it. This is Tree of Dreams at close range, the same work shown at the top of this page.
EINZELN VON HAND GEMALT
Made by hand.
One canvas at a time.
How wide should the wall go?
Measure the sofa or the sideboard first and let the width of the work follow. The ARTMERE Größenratgeber turns that measurement into a proportional choice and explains the five ARTMERE size tiers.
